A Matchmakers Work Is Never Done Empty A Matchmakers Work Is Never Done

Post by Sion Reaver Sun Mar 28, 2021 5:38 pm

Even after all this time and years there were certain parts of living from Fury City that stuck with Tyler. Being aware of one's surroundings, what if there was a group and what said group was doing, what clothes they were wearing and in particular they were matching. The list continued and a lot of times he didn't realize he was doing it but he did make a conscious effort to stop himself when it was unneeded. It wasn't easy to shake off that street sense or survival instincts that kept him and others alive for so long even if in comparison Tokyo was much more tame; larger concentration of people with powers aside.

He couldn't help but wonder what he and his brother's life would of been like had he been born here, or at least gotten out of that hell hole much earlier. Maybe he would have ended up working at that school of physics, or his brother going to school. It was just one of many 'what ifs' he dealt with so there was no need to dwell on it.

At the moment, seeing as it was his day off from Second Chances he had some time to kill. He did plan on going by there to check briefly on them because why not? It was essentially just the four of them with Manny, Monica, Roshia and himself at least for the time being. They had different roles on what they did but they definitely needed more people.

One thing at a time.
__________________

Monica felt it was going to be a good day today, she wasn't entirely sure why but just a gut feeling at the moment. Things had been going pretty good for the most part far as what happened in her personal life. Anita had moved on from Manny and the later was unsurprisingly mature about it and life went on being a bit over a month now. That being said, she did offer her in person service for Manny since like Sammy they just hadn't had the best luck in that area. He declined from the start wanting to think about it before coming around recently.

'WHERE ARE YOU?'

The half-Arkon looked at her text which was from Roshia in all caps; they were still trying to teach her some things far as tech goes which was a process. 'I'm on my way. Remember caps are yelling sweetie. Turn it to lower case.'

''I'M SORRY. I DON'T KNOW HOW. I THINK ITS STUCK.'

Definitely a process. Roshia was a sweet heart but teaching her tech was like teaching a old person how to use a cell for the first time. Which is why in the mean time until she got a better handle on certain things not to use more modern stuff to get her point across to customers. Last thing they needed was a email in all caps or some other mistake while she was learning things.

Second Chances was a small, unassuming building most wouldn't think twice before crossing. The in person service was naturally more limited due to logistics alone compared to the website, the former was best spread by word of mouth. The better and more consistent the results, the better their reputation.

Roshia looked up from her front desk when the door bell jiggled at Monica's entrance. "You got a few calls today. I tried to make sure I wrote down everything down." She seemed pretty pleased with herself.

"Thanks. You're a life saver Roshia." Monica said gratefully as she took the folder with the paper on it. "Anything else? No one called in far as employment goes?"

"No." She said. "Maybe there's some on emeal but I don't how open them. Sorry I'm not as savvy with that stuff yet."

"It's email, and don't worry about it. No matter what that smug bitch says you're doing your best." Monica was referring to a certain other woman-who-shall-not-be-named who was in a similar business bigger.

"Thank you. I left your coffee at your desk and didn't spill this time."
She began, then slowed a bit as if she had a serious question. "Monica its off topic but I have a question."

Monica raised a brow. "Shoot."

"What is hentai and why did people say I should be careful if I watch any? It's on the browser or net? I think they said. They said NTR would be bad for my heart."

Roshia, you poor naive cinnamon roll.

"Uhh.." Monica said intelligently. "Hentai is basically just porn but with drawings and animated. Since its completely fictional you can get away with a lot of things you can't in real life. So some stuff can be kinda out there, I recommend being careful navigating it. Anyway got work to do, hold the fort."

Monica got into her office where her coffee that was prepared by Roshia was waiting for her; still warm but not as hot as she would of liked but it would work for her.

She went to the computer to get started of what she had. Basically, with how things worked she picked a few people who were interested in her client(in this case Sammy and Manny) narrow it down to a few, have a interview and then give her impressions but ultimately of course it was her clients who decided after the process. She had to navigate where her clients preferences were, personalities and the like. It was quite the balancing act but she enjoyed it.

Ok. Let's see what I have for Sammy first, then I'll move on to Manny.

Naturally there were a few for Samantha and most were pretty standard Japanese men. Toshi wanted a wife who was good at cooking and could do laundry. Yamada was looking for a caring wife who could give him a strong son. Deisuke wanted a trophy wife. Vaazlahkol was looking fir a caring woman whom he could share his life with. And Harry was looking for a hot woman with mommy milkers.

Monica was pretty cut throat and efficient when scanning over things, especially when it came to people she cared about. It be nice if someone like Ness worked with her at least part time, but it wasn't happening. Sure she may of considered them more a friend now after their date, but he had much more important things to likely do.

Toshi? Not sure. Seem more like a business and arrangement which nothing wrong, but not what Sammy is looking for. Yamada has potential, but Samantha unfortunately is sterile so that's kinda doomed to start. Deisuke, don't even need to bother why that wouldn't work..

She skimmed over the others, discarding the rest as she went. Harry? I feel insulted For her reading it. Samantha wouldn't have the patience with anyone of that mind set and maturity level. Only viable choice seems to be Vaazlahkol fellow.

Monica checked a bit for contact information, then dialed his number so she could hopefully arrange a appointment.

The phone rang for a few times before it was answered "Good marrow? This is Vaazlahkol. How may I help you?" he says in a soft tone that had a haunted sound to it "Forgive my late response, this is my first cellular telephonic device and I am still learning to use it."

Monica took it in stride once they picked up. "This is Monica Kenzy from Second Chances and it's all right. I have a friend that is getting used to using one to." Maybe he was from some place or area with not much technology? Possible. "To the point, I'm calling to schedule a interview since you expressed interest in Samantha Kronos. Around what times would be the best for you?"

Monica looked over her schedule, appointments and she had planned. She was suppose to have another client today but they called in because they had something to take care of, so she appreciated it. "I'm thinking about twelve today then. As for stuff, just more things like the standard I.D. so I can perform the standard light background check." Kinda a duh she did that sort of thing when it came time. Even if she had before a refresher for red flags didn't hurt though she didn't make it too instrutive; more like the stuff a job would want to know.

"She'll be joining us, yes." Monica said, typing a few things down as she talked; multi tasking had to be a thing in this business. "I think that's about everything I can think of on the top of my head. If you want to bring anything else, feel free to. Any other questions before we part ways?"

There was a pause on the other end "No. I believe I understand my role in this endeavor and I shall try my best to live up to both yours and Lady Kronos's expectations." Vaazlahkol says "I shall see you both sharply at four. I bid you farewell for now." he says.

But the line doesn't disconnect "shivers... i require your aid with something..." he says, sounding far away.

"master... your cellular device it still on..." says a slightly high pitched, gravelly voice that comes closer to the phone, then the line goes dead.

Master? That was odd. It could mean a multitude of reasons but there was nothing clear cut far as this went. Though first thing first she decided to give Samantha a call get the meeting underway.

It was a few rings before she picked up. "Hey Sammy, its me. I found someone for the interview. Can you be around four?"

"I can and thank you." Came the response. "What was their name?"

"Vaazlahkol. Kinda a unique name. Reminds me of Draner a bit or something."

There was a pause. "That name sounds very familiar but right now I can't place it. Anyway, I'll be there when its time don't worry. I still have a few things to take care of in the mean time, take care."

Hm more curious.. Maybe it was someone Samantha knew but just couldn't quite remember the name. Still she had a good feeling about this Vaazlahkol fellow but may change in person when reading body language; that's why face to face were so important. Some others may of jumped the gun with the 'master' talk but she learned not to jump to conclusions before having everything.

In the mean time she'd prepare for the meeting, as Samantha would be here before he did. She was kinda booked for things, so for Manny it was gonna have to wait besides maybe glancing at things. There was Tyler and normally she wouldn't bother him on his day off, but she gave him a text of the situation, but whether he came in or not was up to them.

_________

Tyler was thinking of checking out that special school when he received a text from Monica. It seemed like she was currently kind of swamped at the moment and was asking if he could come in here just for one case for Manny. He did consider them a friend so it wouldn't hurt. Besides, it wasn't like that school for physic's was going anywhere. He'd go there the next time he had some free time.

Roshia was really attractive but he tended to try no to mix work with pleasure. Body wise of course she was his type, personality wise? She was just a bit too naive in some ways which he guessed was to be expected growing up so isolated from certain things.

Enough of that, got a job and a friend to help out. Hopefully I have enough to work with.

He closed the door of his own office, sitting down before trying to find who was interested and then go from there. If he didn't find anything it wasn't the end of the world, in his experience long term partners that fit you tended to come when you weren't actually looking. Ironic how that worked.

Vaazlahkol walks up to the main building of Second Chances. It was on one of the many floors and the Death God looks at the instructions that Shivers pulled up for him "Third floor, huh? Well I had best get to it." he says as he heads in.

He stops at the elevator and looks at it for a moment, then turns towards the stairs and starts up those. He doesn't really trust those boxes heald up by lines. They could snap at any given moment and come hurling back down.

He gets to the third floor, looks at his crude map, wanders around for a bit before finding a door that read Second Chances. He knocks as he puts his map away, not really sure what to expect.

Roshia was a bit bored at the front desk, so she occupied her time trying to play a bit on her phone. It was a very difficult task for her and Tyler thankfully came to show her a bit while between his break.

She heard the knock and perked up, going to open it and saw a very handsome man. She knew she shouldn't think further on it though because he was here, it was safe to say he was a client and thus had their eyes on someone else.

The Hylian gave them a warm smile. "Hello there sir. Are you here for a appointment?"

Young one? But he doesn't look that much older then me. Then again if he was a non human then he very well could be much older then she was. "Ah. I remember that name. I'll take you to them then sir."

She led them to another room, knocking on the door before Monica opened it. Inside of it was a desk, chair in the front, behind it and across from where she was where Samantha was currently at. "Thank you Roshia and thank you for coming on time Vaazlahkol; hope I'm not butchering your name. Have a seat so we can get started."

Vaazlahkol nods as he sits down "I look forward to opening a dialogue with you, milady." he says as he looks over to Sam "It does my lifeless heart good to see you well, lady Samantha." he says with a slight bow to her.

Vaazlahkol takes a seat and takes out his coin purse and pulls out his ID "If I recall, you said you desired I bring this?" he asks as he holds it out.

Samantha wasn't sure if this was the very same Vaazlahkol she had met before but she was leaning on it not just being a concidence. Either way she'd try to be open minded about things. "It's nice to see you as well Vaazlahkol."

Monica politely nodded, taking the card and typed a bit on her computer. "I guess we'll start. So why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and why you took a interest in Samantha."

Vaazlahkol thinks for a moment "I come from a dimension different from this one, where many of the modern conveniences do not yet exist. It is there I come from a pantheon of thirteen different gods and goddesses, each with his or her own realm. Mine is the realm of death." he explains.

"I had followed one of my believers to this world, where I have become trapped it seems, and that was where I met lady Samantha and from the moment I had seen the gentleness of her bright soul, I was captivated by her, enchanted, you might say." he says "I had agreed to leave to alone, as she had wished, but when my servant, Shivers, had found your profile on the internet, I knew I had to at least try to win her hand." he finishes.

Monica blinked slightly. 'Ok so it is the same person. I didn't expect them to admit it outright though.' Samantha was at the moment hard to read, but it wasn't a negative reaction to the reveal at least as she knew them enough to pick up said signs when it was the case. Though if he found Samantha's profile then it meant he was a user of her website since random people couldn't see anything, which meant he was being sincere about finding someone, and running into Sammy was more a coincidence then anything.

"Normally with such a claim would make me pause, but since Samantha has told me the story and things match up then there's no need. Before I continue, everything ok so far Samantha?"
Monica asked them.

"It's fine, I'm just surprised." Samantha said honestly. "But now that I know its you, its nice to see you again."

So far so good, Monica thought. "Well, have to admit this is..kinda a first for me but I won't treat any client different from anyone else. That all being said, there are two things. First is there are any things that are a no go for you far as a partner goes? Secondly do you have any issues with small children as Samantha has a small adopted one. You can ask Samantha a question to after if you want."

Vaazlahkol nods "The souls of the departed are like my children, I care and watch out for each of them." he says "I have no problems with young children. Seeing the world through their eyes, their innocents. It is quite enduring and such pure souls must be well looked after, so that they may one day brighten the heavens." he says. It may be a strange answer, but it was a truthful one.

Monica didn't expect that answer and truth wasn't sure what to make of it but what was important was her client. Samantha didn't seem to react badly to what she was told as she listened which, again, was a decent sign of any.

"I think I heard enough so far." Samantha spoke finally after going over something in her head.

Monica blinked a bit surprised. "You sure?"

She nodded. "Vaazlahkol isn't a complete stranger far as meeting the first time, and since he left I had wanted to. All I wanted was to get a basic gauge of them as a person and sort some things in my head.." Samantha turned towards them smiling. "I do have things I need to finish up today but tomorrow I will be free. In the mean time we can exchange numbers to keep in contact and arrange things? If that's all right?"

"It's fine. Like I said have someone of a similar boat. One sec.." Monica took the phone, going to get their phone number and completely ignoring that before handing it back. After writing stuff down of course. "I got the number for Samantha took to your phone since she said it was all right. If you don't know how to look it up the number is there to.

"I'll help you with anything you might need help with when we hang out as well."
Samantha offered. "But is tomorrow in general a good time for you?"

Samantha stood up after that. "I'll walk you outside then. We could talk a bit more before I have to go?" She offered the man. Monica didn't say anything because at this point at least, her job was more or less done. It was now a more how things turned out later but it wasn't bad for just a meeting.
