The New Life

It was a sunny and bright day. A little Too bright for Cedrick's taste. But she would put up with it. She was on her way to work and was walking, since she didn't live Too far from the Paragon Corp building. She was the only Warp Field Specialist on the planet at the moment, which made her a valuable member of Calvine's staff. And it was good to be needed.

She checked in with security and heads to her work place. She owed Ness much for what he had done for her and letting him go was one of the hardest things she had ever done. Telling him that "If you loved something enough, and it needed to leave, than you should love it enough to let it go." sound advice, but heart breaking  at the same time. *It needed to be done..*, she tells herself.

She gets to work with her staff, hand picked by the boss himself. She didn't like to think of herself as any better or more important than anyone else on her crew and would not only over see things, but also help out. She checked her planner and seen she had dinner with her sisters tonight. She might have to cancel. She wanted to get this new warp core up and running. It was the first one that She had built. Not only would it help Calvine against the pencil pushers, but it would prove that she could be of use.

Calvine was a bit irritated by some of the paper work and such he needed to do but he really couldn't avoid it as much as he wanted to. Besides that and other hiccups things had been all right, he guessed. He finally took Anita's advice to be Cedrick's friend and not just be civil to them. Ness was gone and her sisters had their own lives so someone had to look after them from time to time.

It was a bit slow, so after a time he went to check on Cedrick and the others, making brief small talk to some before greeting Cedrick. "Afternoon. So how goes the progress of things so far?"

Cedrick looks over to her boss, then back to her work 'Slowly. But I believe with a little time, I can make this work." she says, putting down her data padd, another Paragon Corp product, and turns to Calvine "It is, frustrating, I believe the work is, to try and build a warp core from scratch without Ness' talents for making what he needed, when he needed it." she says.

Just before Ness had left, Cedrick started to openly displaying emotions again, for the first time in Years. "I have tried to explain the construction of the intermix chamber to my assistants, but I might as well be speaking a foreign language." she says.

"I am proficient in warp and impulse fields, and I know little on how to Actually make the devices that I am suppose to be working on." she explains "The only ones who actually knows how to make them, to my knowledge, is Ness, whom is away, and you..." she points out "But, unfortunately, you are being bogged down by all the paper work that..." she slows to a stop in her sentence.

She looks over to Calvine "How would you feel about hiring an experienced legal professional to handle all the non essential paperwork for you?" she asks "That way you are free to oversee your companies projects, unless something vital comes up."

Calvine thought about it, it may not be a bad idea. "Hm. You might have a point, I really honestly should of had something like that before. Its just I guess its more due to not being as busy as we are now with things are now. I don't have a problem with it."

Cedrick nods "If you want, I can ask Anita if she could get someone from her place of employment to take your case." she offers "At least until this matter with the different governments is settled."

Calvine mulled it over, he didn't seem the harm in it really. "Yeah I would apperciate it. It would make my job way easier. It be easier then getting ahold of Espen or a lot of his people. He's a lot busier now.."

Cedrick would contact Anita and had no doubts that Anita would get ahold of Espen to send someone to help Calvine. For the main reason that Calvine's work was critical to the world right now. They needed to know that there were friendly people out there and that they could now travel to those people.

That's why she was working hard to get this warp core up and running. It would not only help cement her worth, but it would help the Earth and her people in a way she never could.

"I will give her a call at my lunch break." she says. The easier things were for Calvine, the easier things would be for everyone. After all, Calvine was a pretty likeable boss, from what Cedrick heard.

"Thank you, I apperciate it. I need to get back to that paperwork, again before I loss track of time. If you need anything just gimme a call." Calvine was about to leave, but paused, thinking. "..Though I also know the importance of taking it easy as well. I'll be free after work if you want to hang out, I have no idea if you have any plans." Kinda ironic now that he actually liked her company now.

Cedrick thinks for a bit. She had that get together with her sister later today, but she had been considering canceling. They needed to learn to stand on their own without her.

She nods "I have something I was suppose to do after work, but I think I will just reschedule for later." she says, then nods "Yes, I believe I shall join you."

Calvine smiled. "Good to hear. I'll take my leave for now, just remember to take your breaks and don't burn yourself out. We got a lot of things riding on this but I'm confident we'll be fine."

With that, he took his leave to go do what needed to be done. When he had the time, he was going to visit Alister as well for a few things.

Cedrick nods as she gets back to work. This was a problem, and she didn't like problems. In the past, she would just destroy the problem, but the was a different kind of problem. One that, if not Just right, could destroy a good chunk of the city in an antimatter explosion.

Calvine's phone buzzes. It was almost time for his ten-o-clock appointment. Waiting in the receptionists area was a hot Young Woman. She was waiting there patiently, occasionally she would look at her watch.

Calvine noted the buzz and decided it was time, the stuff he was working on could wait until he came back. When he came to the reception area, he saw a drop dead gorgeous woman that kinda got the little head thinking for him. He put that aside for professionalization sake. Of course his it was only natural, maybe he could ask them out assuming someone like that didn't already have someone.

He cleared his throat, putting on a friendly smile. "Sorry for the slight display, Calvine Mort. Nice to meet you."

The young woman stands, a smile on her face "Thank you for seeing me on such short notice." she says as she holds out her hand My name is Isabelle Cunningham and I represent Tylon and Cybertech. I'm here to talk about a potential partnership between our two companies."

Tylon wasn't a name he had the absolute fondest memories of, however business was business and part of this sort of thing was taking the emotional aspect out of things.

Calvine of course politely shook it. "Pleasure to meet you. We can talk in my office." It wasn't that far away considering where they were at, he sat behind the desk once they got there. "All right, so I'm willing to hear you out.

Isabelle takes a seat as well, crossing those long legs of hers "Well, mister Mort, as you may have heard, Tylon and Cybertech deal in cutting edge research in efforts to better the lives of others, Tylon with it's genetic research and Cybertech with it's cybernetic research, and since the release of your Very impressive NS-6 line of personal robots, it's come to the attention of our cyber division that we are Quite behind the times in the field of robotics." she explains as she presents some folders that show their cybernetic research "And we would like to form a partnership in am effort to correct our short comings, that way we can better help others." she says with a smile.

Calvine looked the information over, thankful for the distraction instead of starring at her large chest or long legs. "This is a very generous offer. Can I have a day or so to think about it?" He needed to think of how to approach this and he wanted to talk to Cedrick about it.

Isabelle was all sweet smiles "Of course. With Ultra-Tech on the warpath, the smaller companies like Tylon and Cybertech are endanger of closing their doors and if that happens, well, not only would a lot of good people lose their jobs, but all the people we were, and could have, helped, would be in trouble." she says

She stands, pulls her skirt down a bit, and holds out a hand again "Thank you once more, for your time, mister Mort." she says as she puts a card on his desk with her other hand "This is my business card. It all my contact information on it, including my personal number..." she says, with what Might have been a very slight coy tone in her voice "If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call." she offers.

Calvine looked the number over before putting it into his pocket, then he handed his own card to to the young woman. "Same. It has my personal and business phone number on it. I'll have an answer for you tomorrow probably." He assured giving her a hand shake. "It was nice meeting you."

Isabelle nods "I certainly look forward to hearing from you." she says "You have a wonderful rest of your day." she says as she heads on out.

Calvine watched her leave, having a lot of things on his mind to think about and a few things he wanted to discuss with Cedrick but mainly about the offer. He hadn't felt right dimissing it outright as it may shoot himself in the foot or cause damage elsewhere among other things so he wanted to make sure he was making a logical decision, not a emotional one.

The day passed a bit uneventful after that, and once he was done he awaited for Cedrick to finish.

Cedrick comes walking out, her bag slung over her shoulder "Apologies for the wait. I wanted to get as much done as I could." she says as she walks up to Calvine.

Calvine shook his head. "It's fine, its good to have that work ethic which is more then I can say for some these days." That was true for the most part from others he had seen around here, he just had to make sure she took her time not to burn herself out.

"So, I got an unexpected vistor today and I'm not sure what to make of things." He began. "There's this woman by the name of Isabelle Cunningham who wanted to form a partnership on behalf of Tylon and Cybertech, apparently our rival Ultra Tech is on the warpath so they could shut down, making the smaller people suffer. We both know the more shady side of Tylon, but I'm not sure just dimissing it was the right thing to do in this case. i told them I'd get back to them in a day to think about it, but I'd still would like to hear your opinion on it."

Cedrick thinks for a bit "Looking back to Tylon and all the stuff that have done, it is best to think about all the people they Actually helped." she says "Also, it is important to know that Cybertech is just the cybernetics division of Tylon and not a separate company." she points out.

She slides her badge and starts out "In the end, I believe it is best to trust your head, over your heart, and look at all the facts that we know." she says.

She was waiting for Calvine, under the impression that they were going out for drinks or something "Also, from a business stand point, it is often best to look at the pros and cans of and possible deals with them?"

"True. That's why I didn't want want to dismiss it straight out of hand. I'll call them later about it." Calvine followed after her. "Probably too soon to ask, but in other news has there been any minor breakways in your work?"

Cedrick doesn't stop walking "We can talk about work over drinks." she says. She knew a little bar, while it was a little out of the way, had the best prices "So, was she pretty?" Cedrick asks "I can still smell her perfume on you."
