Work And Play

Devin couldn't argue against it, since he couldn't see an alternative. "Hm, if you're all right with it. I'll just sleep on my end as not to make things too awkward. For the most part won't be sleeping much, someone has to keep watch just in case."

Tracy nods, still a bit red in the face. It was starting to get dark out, since it was close to winter, so they would see what was up "Um, since you'll be staying over the night, what would you like for dinner?" she asks, trying to distract herself from thinking about sharing a bed with a man. She hadn't done that since snuggling up with her brothers when she was little.

Devin wasn't a picky man and he was a guest so he didn't want to ask for too much. "How about spaghetti if you have it? Or hamburgers? Something pretty easy to make I'm not picky."

Since she only had a small mini fridge with enough food for one person in it, she would have to order out. She nods "Yeah, okay. Burgers it is." she says as she puts in a call to a burger shop she knows that delivers, after all, it was New York, every place delivers.

That suited Devin just fine, though while they were waiting he may start some small talk. "Just wondering if I hadn't asked already what do you plan to do after you get out of college?"

Tracy shakes her head "It's a bit early for me to worry about the long term future. For now, I'll just focus on the short term stuff and the midterm ones as well." she says.

There was a knock at the door "That's gotta be the burgers..." she says as she heads over and gets some money fr her wallet and hands it to Devin, thinking he might want to secure the food or whatever.

Devin took the money before going to the door to get their order, he was rather hungry at the given moment and he sure his new friend was too.

As Devin opens the door to get the order, his phone chimes, letting him know he got a text. It was from Mad and it was dated Just after he called "I didn't get a reply from you. So I repeat, this is bad. The apartment is not clear. It is Not safe to return!"

Suddenly, an unseen force violently pushes Devin out of the apartment and slams the door shut, as the lights start to wildly flicker inside and through it all, a dark figure with glowing red eyes could be seen in the apartment with Tracy!

Devin really didn't have time to check the phone since at the moment time was of the esscene, so of course the door was locked, so he had to use his strength to knock down the door down before rushing back inside.

As Devin hit the door, it held in place by some unseen force. Another fist joined in the fight against the wooden door, which was Mad's "I will... get this open..!" he roars as he slams his fist as hard as he could into the door, with a very loud cracking sound to follow.

But it wasn't the door thay broke, but rather, it was some bones in Mad's hand. He doesn't pause as he takes a few steps back "Move..!" he hisses as he pulls out a strange gun, points it at the door and fires!

The explosive blast from the gun took the door right off the hinges, but the recoil caused Mad to drop the gun from his broken hand "Go... take the gun... you have only... one shot..." he hisses.

Devin took the gun, thankfully he was a good shot but he'd still have to be careful not to waste it as headed inside, ready for just about everything.

Note to self, find someone who specializes with spirits and specter entities so I don't ever have to deal with this bullshit again.

Inside was an assault in the senses. There was the smell of dead meat in the air, a piercing high pitched noise/scream that was everywhere, and tje lights were strobbing so fast, it could give a person a seizure if they weren't careful.

Tracy was nowhere in the small bed room. Which only left the bathroom. Thankfully the door was open, in fact, much of Tracy's things had been tossed around. Tracy was in the bathtub, she looked terrified and her clothes were ripped to sizeable shreds and between the strobbing lights, a shadowy figure could be seen bending over to!

Devin knowing he only had one shot decided to make it count as he took careful aim towards the head making sure not to hit Tracy as he then pulled the trigger. It definitely looked like the thing was trying to force itself on her so he doubly wanted it dead.

Thankfully Devin had inhuman strength, before the recoil of the gun's explosive round was considerable and with a round such at that, it didn't matter Where Devin his the creature. Because the blast was enough to engulf most of the thing's body!

It howls in pain as the power of a daroness greater that it's self attempts to destroy it! A tentril of darkness creeps on over to Devin, courtesy of Mad, and links up with up with the Darkness Gun, giving it even more of a charge!

Devin cursed internally when the shot failed to bring it down and was thinking of more options of using his own energy to see how that fair..except using it where water in a bathroom was a horrible idea.

Thankfully Mad lended his assistance so he fired another shot at the creature.

The second shot did the trick as the creature screeched again, before turning to Tracy, reaching out, before turning into burning ash. The lights, smell, and noise all stopped and it was dead silent in the bathroom, as well as dark. The only light coming from the open door.

The tendrill had withdrawn, there was a sizzling sound coming from it, as the light was burning the darkness.

Tracy turns her frightened eyes to Devin, blinks a few times, then Launches herself at him, throwing her arms around his neck, as she cries into his shoulder.

Devin was slightly taken back but it didn't take too long before giving them a hug back knowing they needed something while she calmed down. After what happened there be no way she'd want to spend time alone for a bit. "Shh. You're safe now."

Tracy was still sniveling into his shirt "I was (hic) s-so scared..." she sobs.

Mad comes walking into the room. He has his medicine bag off, so his eyes were burning. His hand looked fine. He takes his gun back "I'll be going..." he grumbles.

Devin was trying his best to keep Tracy calm as he took note of Mad's presence. "All right. I know it was likely just a job but thanks anyway." He was thinking of allowing Tracy to crash at his place for a bit, until things calmed down and she felt safer anyway.

That was probably the best idea one could do at the moment. If nothing else, let her stay with Ava until things settle down. If Danny were here, he would likely suggest taking her out of the apartment and to a place where she feels safe, so she could calm down, but he wasn't there. He was currently running from a guy trying to hit him with a truck.

After a moment Devin gently dislodged himself from the shaken young woman. "I think its best for now to go some place where you feel safe. If you want, you can room with me and Ava until things cool down."

Tracy nods as she hurries out of the apartment, unmindful to her current attire "Yes." she mumbles "I, I think it's time to move, anyway..." she mumbles.

Devin offered his coat if she wanted so she was a bit more..decent but other then that he was more then all right with escorting her back to his and Ava's apartment. New York was expensive as hell so it was best to have a roomate if you could, he had no idea how Tracy had been able to afford it. Maybe it was her folks helping, he did send a brief text to Ava of what happened and why he was bringing them over.

Before too long they reached the apartment, unlocking the door and closing it behind him. It was an decent apartment, with more room mainly because there was more then one person living there.

Moments later Ava came from the kitchen, it seemed like something had been cooking. "Welcome to our home Tracy, please make yourself at home. We don't have much, but its something. If you need to shower with some clothes you can borrow some of my old ones." She did offer, seeing her clothes weren't in the best shape and she didn't seem to have brought anything.

Tracy nods "Thank you..." she mumbles "I tried, holding that thing off, by using my beast energy, but changing, expends a lot of energy and it tore my clothes." she explains in a lot tone "I think, a shower, and some rest, is what I really need now. I'm very tired..."

Ava nodded and escorted Tracy to the bathroom, already there was some neatly folded clothes, she had prepared them for Tracy after hearing a bit what happened from Devin. "Help yourself. If you need anything let me or Devin know."

She left the younger woman after that to get back to Devin. "She's really shaken up by that incident, poor girl."

"Yeah. I just wish there was a bit more we could do." Devin mumbled.

Ava went over and gently patted his shoulder. "I know you enough, don't beat yourself up over things there's only so much one person can do. Best we can do is be there for her and give a place she feels welcomed and relatively safe. It be nice to have one more person around for now this apartment besides just us. I'm going to finish getting us something to eat."

Devin knew she was right but still, after she left he dug into his wallet to find Mike's phone number. It was about time he got serious about having someone else better suited with dealing with the Tracy situation them himself, maybe he had former students that be interested in a job.

He was also thinking of hiring Tracy for background work, mainly it may be good for her and she'd be around people but that be up to her.
