Laying Low

Devin shook his head. "Normally, yes but apparently Toby had went to the police but he was told since he wasn't human he wasn't apart of their jurisdiction. Not charging the poor kid though, its not about the money."

Burns shakes his head "I feel.for this Toby child, but if he isn't Human, he should probably go to the Hunters and file a report." he says "Bottom line is, without consent from the family or a court order, I'm under no obligations to show you any records of our students. That would be a Serious breach of trust."

Devin shook his head. "It's fine, you're just doing your job. The only issue is Toby or his brother trust or like the Hunters but its something for me to figure out. Thanks anyway."

He'd leave the gentleman be then, but it did mean he was going have to think of something else. If the parents were still alive, which it seemed they probably weren't it be a lot easier though.

As Devin heads out, Mathilda comes walking over to him, she was holding a small flash drive "I think, we make a very good team." she says as she holds the flash drive up to Devin "While you were distracting that bag of hot air, I snuck into his office and downloaded the college registry. If our boy is on there, we'll find him." she says.

Devin had a bit of mixed feelings about the whole thing, he knew the man was just doing what they were suppose to do so part of him felt somewhat bad. The other part didn't since they were helping Toby and if he didn't talk to the Hunters, he was never going to get help.

"Good job. Let's take it back and see if we find anything." Hopefully they would be able to find something that could help them in this case.

Mathilda shakes her head "I'm afraid this is where I must leave you. I have to meet Toby at his school. I promised I would take him to McDonald's and we would talk some more." she says, a slight blush on her face as she avoids eye contact "Best of luck on your search." she says as she takes off.

Devin wasn't sure why she blushed but it was cute. But right now it was onto business to see if he could figure something out when he headed back to his office. When he got there, he uploaded the flash drive to his computer and started his search. If there was a Jareth with a Toby as a younger brother, they would have their guy.

When Devin got back to the office, it was dark, empty, a bit on the chilly side, and way too quiet inside. Not only that, but there was an uneasy feel to the office now and it felt like someone was watching Devin as he entered.

Devin frowned at this and attempted to turn on the lights, failing that he opened the blinds to shed light inside of the office. He trusted his gut so he didn't ignore it and was on his guard for anything or anyone that was out of place. Someone seemed to be here.

The lights worked fine, but it still Seemed like everything was still on the shaded side. The shadows the light seemed to cast were, somehow, more pronounced and longer and it seemed to be getting colder in the office. Little by little.

Devin's hand was hovering around his blade at a moment's notice, he was hoping it wasn't a repeat of some his previous experiences of things of this nature. "I know you're there. You can come out of hiding."

He doubted it, but some otherwrodly creatures couldn't Resist. It was like crack to a addict.

There was nothing. No movement, no sounds, all was just still. But the temperature felt like it kept dropping. Devin's breath could now be seen as the windows and glass surfaces were starting to fog up with condensation.

Suddenly, just as fast as it happened, the temperature started to return to normal, the light was shining brightly and there was no presents at all. It was as if nothing had ever happened, except for the words 'HELP ME!' scrawled across Devin's computer monitor.

Devin wasn't phased. His guess was, it may of been a spirit that attached itself to him for one reason or another, perhaps some unfinished business. So if that was the case, it wasn't going to leave them alone until they were banished, or whatever was dragging them down was dealt with. It was just a educated guess, but wouldn't be the first time.

'No slow days in Rome I guess..'

He didn't see anything else out of the ordinary save for the words on his monitor. That sucked slightly, he was rather fond of it. He booted it up, both to see if anything else would happen, and well, what he came here for.

Since the words were written in the condensation caused from the rapid drop in temperature, all Devin would need to do was wipe it off. His computer seemed to work just fine. Though, what a time for his two ghost experts to be away in Japan.

It was one of Devin's goal to scout someone else that was on the normal payroll for that. Just since they were a small hole in the wall without much rep and Hunters did poach a lot of the talent made it harder. He'd have to see if Aki and her sister could come back early. He did give a text of the summary of the situation

In the mean time, he went to see if that drive would give him any decent results.

After some checking, it seems like there was no luck. One of the Jareth's was a pretty sizeable young man who was on the football team and the other was on the Zoanthrope registry. So now, they were back to square one. Unless some of the others were having better luck.

Devin was a bit let down by that, these things rarely came that easy so hopefully the others were having something of better luck. He decided to leave his office for the time being, he needed to get something to eat so he could properly think of his next move. If the others found something, they would let them know so he wasn't worried on that front.

As Devin was heading out Tracy was heading in. Cassia wasn't with her and Tracy had her book bag with her, which meant she was going to the office to study, again. When Danny once asked her why she always studied at the office, she said (with a rather sheepish look) it was because it was always so quiet there.

Devin saw this and decided to stop her. "Hey Tracy. Not sure you wanna go in there, just had a ghost act up not too long ago. I'm not really sure if its attached to the room or not."

Tracy stops dead in her tracks and she even back pedals a bit. Having One close encounter with a ghost is one too many in her opinion.

She turns around and starts back where she came "I think I'll go study at the library." she mumbles as her pace was a little faster going away, then it was coming to.

"Good plan. I can walk you to the library if you want, there's a bit of catching up here and there." He really couldn't blame Tracy for reacting that way after that strange shadow creature, whatever it had been.

Tracy nods "Okay..." she mumbles. She wasn't feeling too hot now and, until this ghost business was delt with, she decided not to head to the office... besides, it's not like she was very useful there anyway.

Devin could tell Tracy was bothered by what happened, which was understandbale with what happened. He decided to try to take her mind off a bit as he escorted them to the library. "So how has the kiddo been doing at home?"

Tracy lools.over to Devin, surprised that he was talking to her "Huh? O-oh, Cassia. She's as school right now." she says "The Hunters actually have a school, and an orphanage, for, uh, lost children who aren't Human." she explains "But they said that, since Cassia trusts me the most, I can loom after her. But I need to check in with them every week... they also got me a bigger apartment..." she mumbles the last part.

Devin didn't interact with Tracy as much out of work and such but he always liked them as a person. In general, he tried to have a good relationship with those he worked with. "That's good that part is being taken care. The case I'm currently working on has a kid around Cassia's age, maybe they can be friends if they ever meet. It's just getting through what's currently going on being a pain."
