Something Normal

Tracy comes walking out of her very modest apartment, bright and early. On her way to Tokyo U. She was very surprised when her parents told her that they managed to get her into an exchange program and a chance to attend Tokyo University! Only the best and brightest in Japan got into Tokyo U.

She had to get over a few things when she got here. Like how relaxed the Japanese were about certain subjects that are Quite strict in America. Still, she was enjoying her stay and the best news of all: Nothing strange or weird has happened to her here! Sure she's heard and read rumors about super powered beings, but so far they have left her completely alone. It looks like Tracy's luck was about to change and she would get her normal life back of being invisible!

Dysis was still getting used to certain things in Japan, but in many respects he had long ago. He felt like he was floating lately with things and wasn't sure in general what direction his life would take. He was young so he would hopefully figure it out.

"Dysis to earth. Hello? You're spacing out again."

The Dhampir blinked, noticing the slightly bemused look of his mother along with his little sister who was hanging around.

"Sorry, I just had something on my mind." Dysis knew he wouldn't get away completely with that but thankfully his mom relented.

"Just remember, if you need to talk I'll be around okay?" May left it alone at that.

Dysis noticed his sister wanting some attention so he ended up letting her ride on his shoulders. That was when he saw that girl, Tracy was it? They met like once, or twice at that other school. He briefly waved to them as did Miranda.

"Friend of yours?" May asked, getting a certain glint in her eye.

"Just someone I ran into once, they seemed nice. And no."

"You don't even know what I was going to say.."

"But I know you."

Tracy noticed Dysis wave to her and she blushes at being noticed by a cute boy, but her shyness gets the better of her as she lets out a small "EEP!" and she buries her face in one of the books she was carrying. All the better to avoid eye contact and as long as her eyes were hidden, the illogical part of her brain told her that she was invisible.

May chuckled at the sight. "We'll, that's cute. Seems pretty shy."

After a moment, Dysis decided to come over with Miranda of course still in tow. "Do you need any help carrying those books?"

"Me too!"

Dysis looked up to his little sister. "Miranda too."

Tracy's face turns completely red when Dysis talks to her "O-oh, uh, N-no thank you. I've got it." she mumbles. Though, Just as she finished, she fumbles her books and ends up dropping them all "Oh!" she groans as she kneels down to pick them up, still fumbling over them.

Dysis went to go help Tracy with the books after seeing her struggle and drop all of them; Miranda hopped off and also went to help..as much as she could anyway. She was stronger then she looked, which helped. "Seems you got some heavy stuff in here. If you don't mind me asking, what are you taking?"

Tracy was doing fine, until Dysis spoke to her again, then her shyness took over again "O-oh...um, I'm, I'm studying computer science..." she mumbles, avoiding eye contact at all costs "Y-you know, computer programing, web design, a-and all that..." she mumbles. There was still So much more to CS, but she was too embarrassed to talk about it.

Dysis smiled at her. "Pretty technical stuff, I don't think I would have the patience for it. I'm going to try my hand at being a history teacher myself. Sounds kinda stuffy to a lot of people I feel its underated."

He had gathered the rest of her books by now. "Name's Dysis, and the hyperactuve cute little girl is my sister Miranda. May I have your name?"

When asked her name, Tracy's face turns completely red again and she avoids even Looking at Dysis "Um, uh...M-my nam-me's...T-Tracy..." she mumbles as she collects her books from Dysis and takes off "I-I'm late for my classes!" she squeaks as she disappears indoors.

"Nice meeting you.." Dysis noted that she was painfully shy about things but he figured it was just how she was. Back when he was younger he was pretty shy himself but he had since grown out of it.

In the mean he should see what his mother was talking about earlier.

Tracy was still embarrassed about what happened outside. Not so much her dropping her books, she does that quite a lot, but that really cute boy actually Talking to her and what's more, he had gotten Really close to her. Closer then she's generally comfortable with. She's not complaining, just thinking about the situation.

Tracy was kinda cute in her own way, more personality then anything he wouldn't mind seeing her again. The main problem was he didn't go to that school, it was more for big shots and the like anyway. Shame she had taken off so quickly before he could continue talking but she had school to go to anyway.

After her classes, which were long and drawn out, but Tracy enjoyed them. She was walking back to her place. It wasn't all that far from the university, which was good, because she Really wasn't built for long walks.

There were, she noticed, some men following her, but hanging back. They were honor students at Tokyo U. She quickened her pace, hoping they would lose interest in her or lose their way.

Dysis had just came back from running his rounds when he noticed Tracy, along with a few guys trailing behind her. From the looks of things she was trying to get away from them but they either didn't take the hint or continued regardless.

A moment later the Dhampir came over casually. "Hey Tracy, just wondering if you wanted a escort?" He was trying to defuse the situation maybe go in a more public sphere so the guys would go away. Just because you Could solve something with violence doesn't mean you should, it should be a last resort.

The jocks move to surround Tracy and Dysis "Get lost, pretty boy, this doesn't concern you." says one.

Another points to Tracy "That Freak's a Zoanthrope! We don't want her kind in our university!" he declares.

The last one looked like he was ready to murder someone and had his sights set on Tracy "Zoanthrope freaks like you killed my brother and got away Scott free! It's time for some payback!" he says in a pissed tone.

Dysis raised a brow. "What is with jocks always picking on people? I thought it was a cliched movie sterotype." He mused outloud. "And no, it does concern me. You're going to attack someone simply based on what they are. Besides, I hate bullies."

"Is there a problem?" The new voice was from a young woman with wings and blue hair and eyes. Her clothes were a bit unusual so that with her wings would make people think she was a Mystic but she wasn't.

Dysis glanced at them then back at the jocks. "Not now Diana. Unless these misguided young men aren't willing to let things go." He looked back at the men. "Now, my friend is a Mystic and I'm not normal myself. If you attack yours will be in the wrong for self defense. So if you have Any sense, you'll let this go and walk away. So are you going to let it go or act like movie jocks? What is it going to be?"

Diana wasn't really a Mystic, but they didn't need to know that. It was more the looks and reputation of their power to use as a deterrent. If they were smart, they would just let it go at least for now. If not, we'll that was what movies were for.

Normally, they wouldn't have taken Dysis at his work of not being normal, but when his 'Mystic' friend shows up, the jocks seem to loose their nerve "No way, man! I ain't fighting no Mystic!" he says as he backs away.

The other two start backing away "Watch your back, Freak! Those two won't always be protecting you." says the other one as he joins his friends in taking the hell off.

Tracy watches the three head off, then turns to Dysis, still not looking him in the eyes "Um...T-thank you...you know, for your help..." she mumbles. Even in the face of danger, her shyness doesn't seem to go completely away.

Dysis smiled a bit. "Not a problem. I wouldn't feel right just standing there. Anyway, this is my friend Diana."

"Nice to meet you. I would feel a lot more comfortable with us escorting you home just in case." Diana said, looking around if they were still lurking.

"I would too, but its up to you." Dysis frowned. "Maybe we could get those thugs reported if they slip up. Rather it be taken care of now until it becomes a problem."

Tracy was about to say something when she looks to where the jocks ran off to. One of them was back and pointing at Tracy...no, at Dysis and Diana. There was a Scanner Cop and his partner with the jock!

Tracy panics a bit "Oh! Um..." she fumbles with her bag to get her wallet as the Scanners come walking over. She holds up her Zoanthrope ID to the cops "I-I'm a registered Zoanthrope." she says.

Dysis and Diana both sighed, neither of them liked this sort of thing but it was becoming more and more required as time went on. So grudgingly both gave their own needed ID when the cops came to check over their races.

The Scanners check their registration IDs, confirm the information, hand the IDs back "Were you two in anyway threatening this young man and his friends?" the Scanner Cop asks, his partner was getting more information from the jock.

Dysis shook his head. "No sir. They were trying to attack this young woman before we showed up, I said its best just to walk away. But if they attacked we were in our legal right to defend ourselves but only if they attacked first."

The Scanner looks to Tracy "Is this true, young lady?" he asks.

She nods slightly "Y-yes, officer. They were picking on me, b-because I'm a Zoanthrope." she says in a mousey little voice.

The Scanner gets a serious look on his face "And did you ever divulge this information to anyone who would know these men?" he asks.

Tracy shakes her head slightly "N-no, sir...I never told anyone at school and...I don't have any friends...to talk to about it." she mumbles "They...probably looked it up...on the registry site, sir."

The Scanner looks to the jock "Oh really? Well, as it turns out, using registration information to conduct acts of violence or intimidation against those who are registered on it is against the law." he says.

He walks back over to the jock "Son. You and your friends are in a heap of trouble. Abusing Zoanthrope Registry information. As I'm sure you know, Zoanthropes aren't suppose to change into their animal forms, right?" he asks.

The jock nods "Of course we know. That's why when she threatened to change into that Beast form after her friends showed up, we took off and found you guys/ Like we were suppose to." he says, clearly lying.

The Scanner nods "Uh-huh. Well, the thing you Don't know, is while they must remain in Human form a Zoanthrope Can change into their Animal Form, when they feel their life is in danger. So, had you or your friends attacked, that young lady over there could have defended herself anyway she chose to." he points out.

He nods to Dysis and Diana "When this young man and his 'Mystic' friend showed up, they did you a favor in discouraging you and your friends from harming this young lady. Even still, you three are in deep trouble." he says.

His partner ushers the jock back to his friends as the Scanner turns to Tracy, Dysis and Diana "You kids have a good day now. And remember, if you get into trouble, call the police. Contrary to popular belief, we're here to help." he says, then starts off after his partner.

Diana and Dysis watched them leave before turning to Tracy, Dysis speaking first. "I'm glad that worked out in the end and no one had to get hurt. More importantly, you're okay."

"Tracy did say something that should be fixed." Diana said somberly.

"She did." Dysis said just as seriously as if a grave matter that needed to be address right away. "You mentioned you don't have friends around here, so why don't me and Diana fix that? I'd like to try to be your friend if you let me."

"Me too." Diana said with a small smile.

Tracy gets a surprised look on her face "O-oh, um, t-thank you for your help..." she mumbles "B-but the last friend I had, didn't turn out so well..." she picks up her books again "T-thank you...for your help." she says as she mouseys off again. It seemed her shy and awkward side kept getting the better of her.
