Waiting

It wasn't much to do but wait for Ness to show up at Paragon Corps, he was rather busy so he'd be running around again after this break but for now he was going to enjoy his down time. Why go to Lee and Dino's when he could have something more reliable and Didn't cost him a arm and a leg?

He wasn't sure how the things with KOS-MOS would turn out but..something, or rather someone if she had a soul would not only attract some kind of attention but more. They could potentially be a great force of good, or evil depending on what they were. All he knew was either way her path took it would definitely be changing something's.

It was a few hours, but Ness had finally arrived in a black Trans Am, with Cedrick and Anita in tow. He gets out and starts over to the building. He didn't know what he was expecting, but he thought he would find a bigger, more impressive building.

Still, Calvine was doing the best he could with what he had. Which, at the moment, wasn't much. Ness knew Ultra-Tech was making things difficult for his friend and that's why he hadn't gotten any inventions out yet, that and the lack of resources.

What Calvine was trained to build, well, the components didn't exactly exist yet. Which is, Ness guessed, one of the reasons Calvine wanted him to come to his main building. Ness got a few ideas as he entered the building, followed by Anita and Cedrick.

Calvine was actually waiting for Ness in the front talking to a few people when he spotted Ness and the others. He excused himself and made his way over. "Good to see you, I was making sure I got everything on my end handled. Come on, I'll show you to the lab."

He lead them further into the building, going through some other doors that required a scanner to go through before leading them a Large room. It had all sorts of things in there and equipment while others was stored away; organized through letters.

"We'll, here it is. It's not much to look at but.." Calvine shrugged. "It's what I have so far."

There were a few weapons that were discovered on Cedrick, her Hylian blaster and beam saber. She wouldn't give them up, so Ness took responsibility if anything happened. Anita, on the other hand, didn't have any weapons and Ness, well, the only Visible weapon he had on him was his baseball bat, Good Ol' Joe Slugger!

Ness looks around his lab "I see you have it set up as close to both a Starfleet science lab and engineering station as you could get." he points out "Very impressive, given the limited resources you had to work with." he says with a smile.

Anita looks around "I've read that Paragon Corps is having a tough time getting started. Why not invest in some military contracts? You know, until you get on your feet." she suggests.

Ness shakes his head "A few reasons why that's a bad idea." he starts "One: This technology isn't for the governments, it's to be shared with the whole world. But a little at a time. Two: Ultra-Tech, Paragon Corps biggest threat, already has most of those government contracts." he points out.

This gets a quite 'Oh...' from Anita as Ness turns to Calvine "So, let's see what you're working on and how I can help." he says.

Calvine nodded and lead Ness another part of the lab, which was some type of energy core. "You know how Lee and Dino apparently had like a infinite energy core for my mech, right? So it got me thinking, while I can't reverse engineer it imagine the stuff I could do if I could figure it out. Not only for civilian use but weapon use if I need it. Of course, I haven't had as much progress but I feel like I'm a bit closer. Infinite energy, infinite potential as far as you can take certain things."

He crossed his arms. "I decided instead of asking Lee and Dino's to build that gynoid for me, I'd ask them for raw material the next time we go over there. I'm pretty sure they probably have extra stuff they might not care about much, one's man's treasure and another. As is, I couldn't really make anything of real quality far as that goes even if I knew how unless you have something's in that pack. All I know is, I need someway to get Ultra Tech off my nuts. It's going to be me or them eventually with them being a evil company."

Ness nods slowly "Infinite energy would help this poor, struggling world. Just remember, potential can either be good or bad." he says "Plutonium has the potential to power an entire city, or destroy it." he points out. He didn't mean to sound preachy, but he had seen first hand what the temptation of infinite energy could lead to.

Anita frowns slightly "Wait, Ultra-Tech isn't an evil company." she says "They make millions in donations to many different charities and helped build the new medical overhaul that will save the lives of hundreds of thousands." she states.

Cedrick looks over to her sister "And what of this so-called 'Killer Instinct Tournament'. People who enter die." she points out.

Anita shakes her head "No. They get Hurt, yes, but Ultra-Tech doesn't let people die. Also, they make it very clear to anyone entering that there's a possibility of injury and if they win, they get a lot of money and a bunch of other cool things." she says "Besides, who do you think helped defend us against those Space Pirates a few years ago? Ultra-Tech. Who was it that helped rebuild after the Space Pirate invasion failed? Ultra-Tech." she says, shaking her head "No, there's no way they're in evil company."

Calvine shrugged, t wasn't like he had proof of..much of anything really. So he let it drop.

He turned to Ness. "You have a point. It's something to be careful of, IF I get around to it. At the moment I won't be doing anything close to that. I'm starting to wish I hoarded some raw supplies on our travels."

Ness nods "Gathering materials can be a bother. It's a bit hard to come across tritanium when it hasn't been discovered...or is even in this dimension." he says simply

"I found away around that, but it may not be too much use to you. I use what I know about metallurgy, atomic composition and molecular reconstruction to make basically the metals and other materials I need, when building something, that is." he points out.

Anita tilts her head slightly, puzzled "How is that not going to be of any help to Calvine? If he had that knowledge, he could make anything he needed to, right?" she asks.

Cedrick looks over to her sister "It will not be of use to Calvine, because Ness uses his psychokinesis to reconstruct the material's molecular makeup." she says, blandly "Essentially changing it from one element to another." she states.

Ness nods "That's it in a nutshell. Though you won't be able to make something like tritanium, you can make existing metals stronger." he says.

Calvine couldn't use that, but while Ness was here he Could build various things for it. "Yeah..that could work. While I can't use that stuff while you're here it would help a lot."

He went to one portion of the lab, opening a door of some kind. "This is some of the other various materials that I Do have you could work with."

Ness looks the metal over. He had, of course, seen Many types of different metals and ores over the centuries and this one was no different. He looks to Calvine "So, what did you have in mind to try and make?" he asks.

Calvine nodded. "I still plan on the android thing I mentioned back with Lee and Dino's. Besides that, I was thinking of a better security system of some kind. Not just for me, but my contacts have told me Naomi Sylibus has garnered some bad attention again. I want to make sure she makes it out in one piece and do my part to help."

Ness thinks for a bit "An android might be a bit much for now. The best thing to do, is start out with some robots. I would strongly suggest you take a cue from Isaac Asimov, and build them with a set of governing rules to keep them from turning against ya." he states.

He takes his backpack off "At that, I can more then help. In fact, I can show you how to build Nester class series 5 robot. Except without the homicidal central processor controlling them all." he says with a chuckle.

Cedrick sighs slightly when she sees Ness take off his backpack "We might as well make ourselves comfortable. Ness will be here for sometime now." she says to Anita.

"Nester class series five?" Calvine was a bit amused that his friend named them after himself but if was his own design it made sense. "What exactly do those do?"

"They're an advanced robot that I ran into on my trips. They can do just about anything a Human can do, but they're governed by three absolute laws." he says as he pulls a notebook from his pocket and flips through it.


He closes the book, sticking it back in his pocket "Now, the world I got the designs for the NS-5 from had suffered a slight hiccup due to a crazy central computer that controlled all the NS-5s, but with a little tweaking, that won't be a problem." he says.

Calvine nodded slowly. "Okay, I get that. From that notepad and the fact you're building them right now its not the first time you built a robot, or android for that matter since you said you could but it would be too much right now so best to make baby steps."

Ness nods "I've also retrofitted and built whole space ships." he says "I've also built all manner of transportation and weapons. I don't recommend building weapons, but you might not have too many options." he says.

He rummages through his backpack and pulls out a data pad "This has the specks for the NS-5. The good news is, they can be built from existing materials. We just need to do some heavy modifications to their A.I. and positronic brain." he says.

Calvine took the data pad and began looking it over. "I see, I see. I think we can work with this. And yeah, I didn't intend for my company to build weapons except for self defense but like you said it might come a point where I don't have a lot of options. So what was your first android and ship you've built then?"

Ness shrugs "Well, I hadn't built an android, per say. I only ran simulations on the holodeck of a Starfleet science station. They Looked promising, but there was still something missing, I felt." he says as he starts working on retooling the NS-5s positronic brain.

"My first ship, was the EAS Poseidon. It's an EarthForce ship that I designed after Earth joined the newly formed Interstellar Alliance." he says with no small amount of pride "The fastest EarthForce ship aside from the Excalibur." he says with a sly grin "One difference, the Poseidon has polarized hull plating."

"Do you have a picture of what it looks like? Or this robot when its finished?" Calvine asked as he listened to his friend's story.

Ness nods "Yeah." he pulls out a small picture from his wallet. The pictures start to slide past quickly until it stops on Star Ship "That's the EAS Poseidon." he says, pridefully again.

He picks up the data pad with the NS-5 designs on it and scrolls down on it. A stylish Robot comes into view "The NS-5 when it's completed. They really are something, as far as robots go. Their faces even convey emotions or at least the simulation of emotions." he says.

Calvine looked over the robot, thinking. "..You know, it reminds me A lot of the robots from I Robot, a old movie from here. As for the ship, its impressive looking. We still have a bit ways to go before we're completely space farring and not having glorified rockets that can only reach the moon."

Ness nods "I Robot was based off of Isaac Asimov's novel and that's exactly the world I went to. I realized that as soon as I got a bit of information about what had happened there." he says as he puts the picture back in his wallet.

"You know, you're not in Starfleet anymore, despite their training. So you don't have to adhere to their Prime Directive." he points out "I know you were an engineer on a starship, so...give your world a boost to the stars." he says.

"With all the crap that's been going on, reaching for the stars is exactly what this world needs to open their eyes. You remember the history lessons at the Academy, right? How Zefram Cochrane built the first warp engine and made first contact with the Vulcans, ushering in a new era for Earth." Ness points out.

"I think, that it's about time for that new era to happen for this world. The Space Pirates proved that they weren't alone in the universe, now it's time to show them what else is out there." he says, putting a hand on Calvine's shoulder.

Calvine nodded a bit slowly. "..Yeah, you're right. The problem I guess would be funding and such. Building a decent starship will cost a arm and a leg, a warp drive would be a bit cheaper then a whole ship though. After that, I guess I would introduce it to NASA or something. I respect the Prime Directive, but I think its flawed. Same way I think both the 'Light' and 'Dark' side of the force by themselves are flawed. You can't have one half without the other."

Ness nods "Having first hand knowledge and experience on both side of the Force, I can say I agree and woe to those on the opposing side of one who manages to find the balance between the two." he says.

"It doesn't need to be the prettiest in the world. Not yet. Do this in secret. Hit the junk yards, the salvage yards, whatever. You can use a bit of Starfleet knowledge on those pieces of scrap and turn them into the first warp ship this world's ever seen." he points out.

"No, getting the materials for a ship isn't the problem. The problem is going to be getting the warp core built. Building a matter/antimatter containment field is going to be hard work and you'll need to find a different source of power other then Dilithium Crystals." he says, thinking.

"In the mean time, you can use the NS-5s as your income. We just need to carefully program them so they don't go haywire. Once that happens, you could try your hand at building a starship." he suggests.

Cedrick was listening on the conversation and she found it quite intriguing, especially the robot part "Excuse me Ness. As I recall, reading through your stories, but is not Dilithium a created element that is crystalized for use in Federation starships?" she asks "Is it not possible to create Dilithium and a crystallization chamber for it?" she asks.

Calvine thinks for a bit. "..It might be, I think. Ness would know a bit better then me. That said, When I build the ship the problem is when I reveal it. That's to say I doubt the governments will be too happy about a giant starship built under their nose if done in secret."
